ARTIST STATEMENT
Ruben Benjamin (b. 1994) is a Munich-based artist working across painting and sculpture. At the core of his practice is the exploration of light and its translation into physical form.
Drawing inspiration from natural phenomena, Benjamin creates abstract works that exist between painting and sculpture. Combining organic forms with technical precision, he uses sculpted surfaces and carefully applied color to create works in which light appears to emerge from within the material. Working with compressed air, stone powder, metal, and his bare hands, Benjamin builds surfaces through a physical interplay of force, gesture, and precision. His background in engineering informs an experimental approach to material and form. As light and perspective shift, the works reveal new dimensions, challenging the boundaries between surface, depth, and perception.
Benjamin's work is held in private collections across Europe, America, and Asia.
